Beluga Whale - Marine Debris Awareness Bracelet
The "Beluga Whale Bracelet" represents the life of a whale saved from entanglement. Belugas are extremely sociable mammals that live, hunt and migrate together in pods, ranging from a few individuals to hundreds of whales. Their bulbous forehead, called a "melon”, is flexible and capable of changing shape. This allows them to make different facial expressions. Belugas can produce a series of chirps, clicks, whistles and squeals, which give the beluga its other name, "the canary of the sea." They may sound like music or even nonsense to us, but to fellow belugas they convey important information.
Like polar bears, the beluga depends on sea ice for its existence and can be directly impacted by climate change. Since whales depend on sound to communicate, any interference by noise pollution can negatively affect their ability to find food and mates, navigate, avoid predators and take care of their young. Shipping, industrial extraction, marine construction and military activities cause underwater noise pollution.
These nautical rope bracelets are handcrafted from recycled marine rope debris collected during beach cleanup projects. Each piece of salvaged rope is unique with slight variations in color and condition, caused by natural weathering. All bracelets are 100% waterproof & fastened with a custom tag featuring the Planet Love Life logo and brand name. Join us in supporting this important cause by helping spread awareness of marine debris and its negative impacts on the environment.
Each bracelet purchased helps keep our oceans clean & represents the life of a marine animal saved from entanglement.
